Follow Friday, TGIF, and Book Blogger Hop [7/8/11]

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee. It exists so bloggers can make friends and say "hi!".
Let's step away from besties...What is the worst book that you've ever read and actually finished?
Hmm... worst as in horrible terrible no good very bad day? Or worst in the sense that it was a bad, but true story topic, and the book was bad because it was such a powerful read? I'm taking it like that, and I'm also going to say "Bitter End" by Jennifer Brown was this book to me. It centers around a girl in a true-love relationship that shatters her dreams when her boyfriend hits her. Really fast, her dreams come crashing down as she finds herself stuck in his abusive world and she can't get free. It was one of those books that you really don't want to read, but you don't want to put it down. You get sucked into the story and it's impossible to forget. [You can read my review HERE.]

TGIF is hosted by Ginger over at G-Reads, and it helps bloggers recap the week on their blog and answer a question.
Blogger Confession: What's the last book you could not finish?(or had a hard time finishing?)
EONA by Alison Goodman was one that I particulary remember as being good in the beginning, but bleh towards the end. It's the second book in the EON series, and I have to say that the first one was good, and the second, not so much. In my opinion, it destroyed the world that EON created, and that wasn't too cool. The characters were all moody and argumentative, not to mention the love triangle between the main girl, Eona, who used to be a boy, the prince of the kingdom, and Eona's arch enemy-turned-ally [who's still a jerk, btw]. No me gusta. It took me a while to finish it, but you can read my review HERE.

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Jennifer at Crazy for Books. It's where bloggers connect via their love for books!
Promote a giveaway that's not your own.
A friend of my Momma Jeanne's, Jennifer @ Momma D and Da Boyz has a blog about the daily life of a woman in a male dominated household; her own. I've met her at the local St. Bladrick's events, and have to say, she was pretty nice! Anyway, varying from the bookish and into the foodish, she's hosting a giveaway of a giant gummy bear DIY kit! You can see the details HERE. The contest ends July 25th!

Have a great weekend!

Waiting on Wednesday (You Are My Only)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. It spotlights upcoming book releases that are eagerly anticipated! This week, I'm waiting for...

You Are My Only

Author: Beth Kephart
Pages: N/A
Publisher: Laura Geringer Books, an imprint of Egmont USA
Publication: October 2011
Genre: Young Adult Mystery
via Goodreads:

A missing child. A devastated young mom. Two girls—one traumatic event.

Emmy Rane is married at nineteen , a mother by twenty. Trapped in a life with a husband she no longer loves, Baby is her only joy. Then one sunny day in September, Emmy takes a few fateful steps away from her baby and returns to find her missing. All that is left behind is a yellow sock. Fourteen years later, Sophie, a homeschooled, reclusive teenage girl is forced to move frequently and abruptly from place to place, perpetually running from what her mother calls the "No Good." One afternoon, Sophie breaks the rules, ventures out, and meets Joey and his two aunts. It is this loving family that opens Sophie's eyes, giving her the courage to look into her past. What she discovers changes her world forever...

The riveting stories of Emmy and Sophie—alternating narratives of loss, imprisonment, and freedom regained—escalate with breathless suspense toward an unforgettable climax
It's probably because my mom loves making me watch all those 48 Hours/Dateline specials about people getting kidnapped or disappearing that I want to read this book. Honestly, it just looks really interesting!

What are you waiting for?

-Imaginary Girls by Nova Ren Suma, page 34
 Imaginary Girls

Author: Nova Ren Suma
Pages: 352
Publisher: Dutton Juvenile, an imprint of Penguin Group USA
Publication: June 2011
Genre: Young Adult Mystery
via Goodreads:

Chloe's older sister, Ruby, is the girl everyone looks to and longs for, who can't be captured or caged. When a night with Ruby's friends goes horribly wrong and Chloe discovers the dead body of her classmate London Hayes left floating in the reservoir, Chloe is sent away from town and away from Ruby.

But Ruby will do anything to get her sister back, and when Chloe returns to town two years later, deadly surprises await. As Chloe flirts with the truth that Ruby has hidden deeply away, the fragile line between life and death is redrawn by the complex bonds of sisterhood.

With palpable drama and delicious craft, Nova Ren Suma bursts onto the YA scene with the story that everyone will be talking about.
So my sister stole my Momma Jeanne's ARC of this book, and I have stolen it from her because Nova Ren Suma is holding a signing an hour away from me next Monday and I would really like to go, but I have to read the book first! Though I have about fifty other books to be reading, oh well!

What are you teasing us with?
